Ahead of the Nigeria National League (NNL) kick-off, Gateway United coach Samson Omiponle has revealed that his target with the Abeokuta-based side is to pick the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) ticket.
Pulse Sports reports that the Nigeria's second tier league will start on October 28 across different centres in the country.
Omiponle confirmed that his team has increased its training, technical and tactical components, and the players are adapting to the new football order.
He said, “Big thanks to the governments of Ogun State for their massive support. Also, the Management is backing me with the available resources Well, as a team, we are not afraid of any side as our eyes are set on a promotion to the Premier League.
"By the special grace of God, with good officiating, we’re not going to let our fans down. The team has intensified training in the technical and tactical aspects of it, and the players are responding to the new order of football.
"I like to call on our fans to keep supporting the team, as they are the strength and backbone of this club. When the action begins, Nigerians will see the new brand of Gateway Football Club”, he concluded.
Gateway United was drawn in Southern Group B alongside Warri Wolves, Osun United, Ikorodu United Giant Brila, FC One Rocket, Ijebu United, Tradesafe, Crown FC, and Inter Lagos.
