"No Place for Me!" - The Story Behind Simanić's Cryptic Message And What Drove Him to Speak Out
Simanić revealed the reason behind his cryptic message. In a brief statement to Telesport, he declared he's no longer wanted on the Serbian national team.
"The federation told me there's no place for me on the team. Thank you." - Boriša Simanić said, as reported by Sportal.
What led to this?
Simanić initially expressed his discontent in a series of short Instagram stories.
"I gave you my kidney, my glory, my joy, Serbia! And you gave me humiliation, sadness, and grief."
As a reminder, Simanić lost a kidney after being hit by Nuni Omot during the game against South Sudan. He returned to Serbia a hero, and his tears at the team's welcome home spoke volumes.
He previously discussed this difficult moment in a documentary by Sportal and RTS titled "All for one, one for all."
"For the first three days, I didn't know where I was. The pain was immense. I had a tube and everything that comes after surgery. My stomach was swollen, which was strange because I'd never had an operation like that before.
"Gaga insisted on another scan after three days. Time moved so slowly. Lying in that room, staring at the clock on the wall… the seconds ticked by so slowly." - Boriša Simanić
