The rivalry between the track star and the NFL speedster has been brewing for some time, sparked by a back and forth between the two, questioning the legitimacy of each other's claim to the sprint king title.

Hill, known for his lightning-fast speed on the football field, has ppreviously fired shots, suggesting he could take Lyles in a race. But the two have yet to officially square off.

“You can’t really fathom that until you see it in person,” Lyles said on the podcast as quoted by American outlet Yardbarker.

“If we go for the Olympics, it’s like what’s next. All right, give me your best guy. If Tyreek is your best guy, come on, I’ll whoop you real quick... it’d be over in the first five meters, probably first three steps.”

Lyles’ confidence isn’t without merit. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, he clinched the gold medal in the 100m sprint, marking his first Olympic gold.

He also picked up a bronze in the 200m event, further solidifying his status as one of the fastest men in the world.

His consistent performances on the international track circuit have earned him a reputation for not only top speed but elite racing technique, something that might give him an edge over any challenger, football player or not.

On the other hand, Tyreek Hill has more than earned his nickname, “Cheetah.”

As one of the NFL’s most explosive athletes, he reached a record 23.24 mph during a kick return in his rookie year and clocked 22.19 mph on a touchdown run in the 2023 NFL season.

In 2024, Hill continued to be a standout performer, recording 81 receptions, 959 yards, and six touchdowns for the Dolphins.
