Nwabali, Troost, Bassey: Nigerians hail Super Eagles defence as best in Africa after silencing Angola

Nigeria's Super Eagles have exhibited exceptional defensive prowess at AFCON 2023, and are yet to concede a goal since Jose Peseiro's strategic shift to a back three.

The defensive trio of Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi, and Calvin Bassey, alongside goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, has proven formidable, helping to keep the most clean sheets in the tournament (4).

Their defensive resilience was notably on display in a well-deserved 1-0 triumph over Angola, securing a spot in the semi-finals.

Calvin Bassey, in particular, has stood out, not only providing defensive stability but also showcasing adept ball progression skills.

Nigerians took to social media to praise the defensive efforts of the Super Eagles defenders against Cameroon and in the competition.
