Mamelodi Sundowns experienced a brief threat to their unbeaten streak in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday night against Stellenbosch FC, but they managed to regain control.

The hosts found themselves trailing after 14 minutes when Devin Titus scored against Riyard Pieterse, making his season debut.

However, Masandawana swiftly turned the tables, netting two goals within six minutes to assume control.

Grant Kekana equalized in the 34th minute, followed by Aubrey Modiba extending the lead five minutes later with an exquisite free kick from the left wing.

In added time, 16-year-old Siyabonga Mabena joined the scoresheet, becoming the youngest goal scorer for the side in league play.

This victory marks the eighth consecutive league win for Rulani Mokwena’s squad and sets a new record in the PSL, with 32 games unbeaten the longest unbeaten run, surpassing Kaizer Chiefs’ 31-game record.

Former Uganda Cranes captain, Denis Onyango, was on the bench but did not play.

This win positions the 2016 CAF Champions League winners at 24 points after eight games, ten ahead of Ismael Watenga’s Golden Arrows in second, who have a game in hand.

Masandawana’s next focus is to secure a spot in the CAF Champions League group stages. They face Bumamuru FC on Saturday, having dominated the first leg 4-0 in Dar-es-Salaam.
