Osimhen back in Napoli training ahead of crucial Atalanta tie
Napoli’s hopes of improving their recent poor form have received a major boost with the news that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has returned to training with the first team ahead of their crucial Serie A encounter against Atalanta.
Osimhen back in Napoli training after six-week absence
Osimhen has been out of action since getting injured while on international duty with Nigeria’s Super Eagles during a friendly against Saudi Arabia in October.
The Nigerian forward has been missing in action for close to six weeks following his injury against Saudi Arabia but could be set to feature in Napoli’s Serie A match against Atalanta, according to recent reports.
The forward has been joined in training by two other recent absentees, Piotr Zielinski and Alex Meret, who are also working their way back to full fitness.
Napoli look forward to Osimhen future
Napoli have struggled in Osimhen’s absence, winning only three out of six matches that the Super Eagles star has missed in both Serie A and the UEFA Champions League.
The Partenopei have lost one of those six games and drawn two, with the team’s overall form this season resulting in the sacking of former manager Rudi Garcia after less than six months in charge.
The club has clearly missed its top scorer this season, who has netted six goals in 10 matches and provided one assist as well, and they will be hoping to have him back when they take on Atalanta in Serie A this weekend.
