No oloshos yet! Osimhen shuts down Boniface's wild suggestion amid South Africa celebrations
After Nigeria's semifinal victory over South Africa at the Africa Cup of Nations, striker Victor Osimhen had ‘stern words’ for teammate Victor Boniface following a friendly post-game comment.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Osimhen and Boniface linked up on Instagram Live after the Super Eagles defeated South 4-2 on penalties to reach the AFCON 2023 final.
Osimhen urges Boniface to stay focus
Boniface, who was ruled out of the AFCON 2023 by an unfortunate injury, had suggested the team deserved to celebrate with "oloshos" (prostitutes), saying to Osimhen, "Make dem give pere nwa two oloshos this night, he deserve am," in a video posted on the social media platform, X.com, formerly Twitter.
The Napoli icon quickly admonished him, replying "Thunder go fire you. We stay focused until we don win, you hear wetin i dey talk?"
Boniface then responded "No worry, i dey come, i go show on Saturday," implying he would join the team ahead of the final against Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday.
The exchange highlights Osimhen's determination to keep the team focused on the task at hand versus Boniface's more celebratory mindset.
Osimhen, 25, played for 110 minutes despite an issue with abdominal pain early in the explosive encounter against the Bafana Bafana.
With the final approaching, Osimhen emphasised maintaining concentration and avoiding complacency as Nigeria aims to capture the AFCON title for the first time in 10 years.
