Paris 2024: Nigeria vs Brazil - Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr spotted cheering Super Falcons
Former Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr was spotted in the stands as Nigeria's Super Falcons faced off against Brazil in the women's football tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Rohr, who managed the Super Eagles for five years before being unceremoniously sacked in December 2021, was photographed moments before the crucial match, sparking speculation among Nigerian football fans.
Gernot Rohr cheers Super Falcons vs Brazil
The Franco-German coach recently made headlines when he led Benin Republic to a shock 2-1 victory over the Super Eagles in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, adding further intrigue to his presence at the Olympic clash.
Rohr's abrupt departure from the Super Eagles came just before the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup qualifiers, with Augustine Eguavoen taking over the reins but failing to achieve success in both tournaments. Eguavoen was subsequently replaced by the current coach, Jose Peseiro.
Despite the tumultuous circumstances surrounding his exit, Rohr has made the trip to Paris to lend his support to the Super Falcons as they make their long-awaited return to the Olympic stage.
The Nigerian women's national team last appeared at the Olympics in 2008.

The team will be looking to make history and capture their first-ever Olympic gold medal.
Meanwhile, Rohr is set for a sensation return to Nigeria three years after he was sacked by the NFF.
Rohr’s return to Nigeria will come in September 2024, as the Super Eagles prepare to kick off their journey to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The opening match will see Nigeria face off against Rohr's Benin Republic, marking the former coach's first appearance in Nigeria since his departure.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the fixtures, setting the stage for a highly anticipated clash between the Super Eagles and Rohr's Cheetahs of Benin.
