Police FC head coach, technical staff earn promotions

Angelo Lonyesi, the head coach of Uganda Police Football Club has been elevated to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police.

Lonyesi is among the 1638 gazetted police officers promoted by President Yoweri Museveni acting on advice of the Police Authority.

“Big congratulations to our head coach Angelo Lonyesi upon his promotion to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) from Inspector of Police (IP). We are so proud of you ASP Lonyesi,” Police FC tweeted.

Also promoted are technical staff including first assistant coach Iga David, elevated to the rank of Sergeant and fitness coach Fazil Ibrahim to Corporal.

The 2022/23 season was one of heartbreaks for the 2005 Uganda Premier League winners having failed to earn promotion to the top-tier league.

Police FC also came short of qualification to continental football, the CAF Confederations Cup, falling 1-0 to Vipers SC in the Uganda Cup finals.

Several budding athletes in the Police Athletics Club have also been promoted.
