After Mitchell Robinson sustained an injury that will keep him out of action until the new year, the New York Knicks are already facing depth problems at the center position.
To make matters worse, Nigerian D'Tigers star Precious Achiuwa's hamstring injury this past week dealt the Knicks yet another setback.
The Knicks' bench depth at center will be further reduced as Achiuwa is anticipated to miss a few weeks, including Opening Day and perhaps the first few games of the regular season.
Now that Achiuwa is recovering, head coach Tom Thibodeau will have to rely a lot on Jericho Sims as the starting backup center.
Precious Achiuwa on injury
Achiuwa talked to Afroballers on Instagram Live about his hamstring, which will be examined again in two to four weeks.
He said, "We'll get back better, stronger. It's just a minor setback.
"We still have the same agenda. Gonna come back a lot stronger…We have a goal to accomplish this year."
Achiuwa will now miss the opening ceremony between the Knicks and the Boston Celtics.
