Liverpool face a crucial Premier League clash against Manchester City at Anfield. A victory would give the Reds an impressive 11-point lead over the reigning champions early in the season.

Arne Slot's Liverpool tenure has been exceptional, highlighted by a recent 2-0 victory over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. 

City, on the other hand, have been struggling. They drew 3-3 with Feyenoord in the UCL on Tuesday, squandering a three-goal lead, extending their winless streak under Guardiola to a record six games.

It is a significant game for both sides, as it could define how the PL title race plays out this season. 

Recent meetings between both teams have not been kind to the Reds, who have won just one of the last nine PL games against City (5D, 3L).

However, the Citizens have won just one of their last 21 PL away games at Anfield (7D, 13L).

More often than any other fixture in PL history, the away side have failed to win in this fixture, with an 11% win rate for whoever plays as the visitor, the lowest of any PL fixture to be played more than 30 times.

Liverpool will assess the fitness of Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley ahead of the Manchester City clash. 

Bradley, who sustained a hamstring injury against Real Madrid, could be replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who recently returned to the matchday squad.

Manchester City's injury woes have been evident during their six-game winless streak. In addition to Rodri and Mateo Kovacic, John Stones is doubtful after missing the Feyenoord draw. 

Ruben Dias made a bench appearance midweek, and Kevin De Bruyne has still not attained full recovery from injury, which has limited him to cameo appearances, while Jeremy Doku is doubtful.

However, Guardiola’s men know that a loss here could ultimately end their hopes of retaining the PL title, and this could inspire them to turn up.
