'Qualified!' - Galatasaray congratulate Osimhen on key AFCON goal
Turkish giants Galatasaray have congratulated Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen and the Super Eagles on their qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Osimhen scored the decisive equaliser for the Super Eagles, securing their place as Group D winners in the upcoming AFCON on Thursday.
In a statement on social media, Galatasaray, where Osimhen is currently on loan from Napoli, expressed their pride in the player's pivotal contribution to Nigeria's 1-1 draw with Benin Republic.
"Congratulations to Victor Osimhen who scored the only goal for Nigeria in the 1-1 draw with Benin in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, securing their qualification from the group stage," the club said.
This achievement highlights Osimhen's importance not only to the national team but also to our club, where he has been making a significant impact since his arrival.
Osimhen's goal against Benin was his 23rd for the Super Eagles, tying him with Nigerian legend Segun Odegbami as the second-highest scorer in the team's history.

The match was crucial for Nigeria, even though they had already booked their spot in AFCON 2025 prior to the game, thanks to Libya's victory over Rwanda.
Galatasaray fans have been eagerly following Osimhen's journey since his loan move to the club, and his impressive performance on the international stage has further endeared him to the supporters.
As the striker continues his brilliant form for both club and country, his contributions will be key as Nigeria prepares for the AFCON tournament in Morocco.
With their qualification secured, Osimhen and the Super Eagles will look to build on this momentum as they head into their final qualifying match against Rwanda, aiming to solidify their status as one of Africa's top footballing nations.
