Report: Arsenal take swift action after Real Madrid present swap offer for their top star
Arsenal have reportedly rejected an offer from Real Madrid regarding a swap deal involving France international defender William Saliba.
The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the top centre-backs in world football and is on Real Madrid's radar. Los Blancos’ interest in Saliba is an open secret and lately, they reportedly tested the waters.
Arsenal's decision
According to a report from Dario Sport, Real Madrid contacted the Gunners to discuss a swap deal for Saliba. Los Blancos were hoping to leverage Arsenal's interest in Rodrygo.
The Gunners have been trying to acquire a left winger, and they are keen on signing the Brazil international. However, they have struggled to come up with the finances, as Real Madrid are demanding a figure around €100 million.
According to the report from Sport, the 15-time UCL winners wanted a direct swap with Arsenal: Saliba for Rodrygo. However, Arsenal rejected the deal.
Saliba wants to stay
As Pulse Sports reported, Arsenal are set to offer the defender a new long-term contract, and Saliba has expressed a desire to put pen to paper amid interest from overseas.
