The 18-year-old, who has been heavily involved with the first team since his debut in 2021, would now be given a first-team jersey, pending confirmation from LaLiga.

Gavi to officially join the first team

Spanish football journalist Helena Condis reports that Barcelona have officially filed for the registration of Gavi into the first team setup with LaLiga, and they await confirmation from the league.

The Golden Boy winner, who has played over 70 games for Barcelona's first team, is not officially registered as a first-team player.

As his jersey number 30 suggests, Gavi was officially registered with the Barcelona subsidiaries, as LaLiga only allows teams to allot jersey numbers 1–25 for first-team players.

Barcelona signed Gavi to a long-term contract in September but could not register him as a first-team player as they did not have enough salary margins within the confines of LaLiga’s FFP laws.

Following the sale of Memphis Depay to Atletico Madrid, the club are now set to register Gavi as a first-team player.
