Report: Nice close in on En-Nesyri as Moffi deal collapses
According to reports from France, Nice are now set to sign Sevilla’s Moroccan forward, Youssef En-Nesyri during the winter transfer window.
Nice turn to En-Nesyri after missing out on Moffi
En-Nesyri, who already turned down a transfer to English club West Ham, has been touted as the perfect striker for Nice after they missed out on Nigerian forward Terem Moffi.
Despite reportedly agreeing on personal terms with Moffi, Nice were never able to agree on a fee with Moffi’s club Lorient, with their last official bid of €18 million a far cry from Lorient’s valuation of €30 million for the Nigerian forward.
Nice have therefore decided to turn their attention to the 25-year-old forward who is currently with La Liga strugglers Sevilla.
En-Nesyri struggling for Sevilla despite World Cup heroics
En-Nesyri was superb for Morocco at the World Cup, scoring twice for the Atlas Lions as they reached the semifinals in Qatar, and it was hoped that he would carry that form with him back to Sevilla who sorely needed an in-form striker.
However, despite hitting a hattrick in the Copa del Rey against Linares, En-Nesyri has struggled for form, failing to score in the four matches since, while also failing to register a single goal in La Liga all season.
With the Andalucian club languishing in 19th on the La Liga table, it might be time for En-Nesyri to cut his losses and join Nice who are 10th in Ligue 1.
The prospect of possibly fighting for a spot in Europe next season might be just what the Moroccan forward needs to reinvigorate his season, rather than a relegation dogfight.
