West Ham have all but ended their pursuit of Super Eagles star Terem Moffi after agreeing a deal with Aston Villa over the transfer of Danny Ings.

The Hammers had been linked with a move for Moffi but could not reach an agreement with the Super Eagles star’s club, Lorient.

West Ham turn to Ings

It now appears they have moved on from the deal and have gone for Ings instead. According to multiple reports, West Ham have a deal in place with Villa to sign Ings for £15m this month.

The announcement is imminent, with Ings currently undergoing a medical at the club’s base in London. Ings will come in to provide competition for Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio, who have both struggled to score goals for the Hammers this season.

Ings to provide more options for West Ham

West Ham are one of the league’s lowest scorers this season with just 15 goals in 19 league games. David Moyes’ men currently sit in the relegation zone but will hope Ings' imminent arrival will fire them up the table.

English striker Danny Ings during his Southampton days

Ings has not reached the heights of his Southampton or Burnley days since he signed for Villa but he still has six goals in 18 league games for Unai Emery’s men this season. The former Liverpool man will now hope to do the same under Moyes as West ham try to move away from the relegation zone.

Should everything go according to plan, Ings could make his debut for West Ham against Everton this weekend. The result could have serious ramifications as a loss for either team could spell the end for Moyes or Lampard.
