The previous day Moses Simon led Victor Boniface and others to camp.
Eligible to represent both the Netherlands and Nigeria due to his mixed heritage, Troost-Ekong chose to don the green and white of the Super Eagles.
He has amassed over 70 caps and captained the team in major tournaments, including the delayed 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2023 AFCON, where Nigeria finished as runners-up to Ivory Coast.
With Ahmed Musa missing, Troost-Ekong is expected to lead the team under new head coach Eric Chelle.
Lookman the reigning African Footballer of the Year is also expected to take on a massive responsibility if the Super Eagles are to be victorious.
