Serena Williams announces second pregnancy with husband at Met Gala

Serena Williams is going to be a mother for the second time.

The 41-year-old Tennis great is expecting her second child after revealing her pregnancy as she arrived at the 2023 Met Gala ceremony on Monday, May 1.

Serena Williams showed off a prominent baby bump as she walked the red carpet at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City alongside her husband Alexis Ohanian.

The 23-time Singles Grand Slam champion welcomed her first child, a daughter named Alexis Olympia, in 2017, and is now set to be a parent once more.

Serena showed off her bump in a striking black Gucci dress that highlighted her curves before also confirming the pregnancy with an Instagram post in which she is pictured slaying in her red carpet attire at the glamorous event.

'Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala,' she excitedly captioned her post. 

Daily Mail reports that Serena first revealed her pregnancy during a Vogue livestream while chatting with La La Anthony.

She had previously stated her desire to have another child after announcing her retirement from tennis in August 2022, and her wish seems to have eventually come true.

At the time of the interview, she said she would be 'evolving away' from the sport. 

After she mentioned that there were three people there for the interview — herself, Alexis and the baby — her husband and La La both offered to have a drink in Serena's honour, according to the AP.

Serena Williams was among the A-list of celebrities that graced the annual iconic event.

It was there that she revealed a little surprise to the world, with the Florida native bearing big smiles as she is set to put to bed once again.
