Serie A: Ademola Lookman gets new teammate as Ben Godfrey swaps relegation fight for Champions League
Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman’s Serie A club side Atalanta have secured the services of Everton defender Ben Godfrey in a major coup for the club.
The move will no doubt delight Atalanta and Lookman, who is currently on the books of the Europa League winners.

Godfrey, 26, has put pen to paper on a deal to join Atalanta, leaving Everton after four years at Goodison Park.
The English centre-back, who earned two caps for the national team during his time with the Toffees, took to social media to bid an emotional farewell to the club and its supporters.
"I joined the club in 2020, everyone at the club..fans, staff and players made me feel welcome. I've made great memories at this football club and will always appreciate my time here, Now it's time to go onto my next challenge. Thanks for all your support. All the best," Godfrey said.
Atalanta secured a historic Europa League triumph last season inspired by Lookman's heroics and will now welcome Godfrey to the fold as they prepare for the rigour of the Champions League next term.
"My new home @Atalanta_BC So happy to be here, looking forward to meeting everyone at the club! Forza Atalanta," the defender wrote in a message to the Italian club's faithful.
The transfer fee remains undisclosed, but it's clear Atalanta have pulled off a major coup in luring Godfrey away from the Premier League and into their ranks.

This move will undoubtedly delight Nigerian star Lookman, who has flourished since joining Atalanta on loan from RB Leipzig last year.
The 26-year-old attacker played a pivotal role in the club's Europa League success, netting a stunning hat-trick in the final, and will now have a familiar face in the dressing room as Atalanta embark on their Champions League adventure.
Everton fans will be disappointed to see Godfrey depart, with the defender making 93 appearances for the club since joining from Norwich City in 2020.
However, the Merseyside outfit will no doubt wish him well as he embarks on a new challenge in the rigorous Serie A.
