Sheikh Jassim urged to abandon Manchester United pursuit to buy Serie A giants

Qatari royal Sheikh Jassim could reportedly turn his attention away from Manchester United following a failed attempt to buy the club, focusing instead on a new club.

Sheikh Jassim had been in a long-drawn battle to buy a majority share of Manchester United, a move that would have brought an end to the reign of the Glazers family at the helm of the Red Devils’ affairs.

However, despite reportedly offering a world-record bid to buy the Manchester club, the Qatari businessman was unsuccessful, losing out to Brit Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who offered to buy only 25% of Manchester United.

This deal was more acceptable to the controlling Glazers family, with brothers Avram and Malcolm, who agreed to sell equal parts of their stake in the club, totalling 25%.

After the disappointment of failing to land Manchester United, Sheikh Jassim has been encouraged by a former competitor to focus his attention on Serie A giants Inter instead.

Thomas Zilliacus, who was an early bidder for stakes in Manchester United, took to social media platform X to encourage Sheikh Jassim after his failed bid and urged the Royal to join his bid for 2023 UEFA Champions League finalists Inter.

The Finnish businessman posted a message to Sheikh Jassim on X, saying, “Happy to see you have come to the same conclusion I came to a few months ago. Now let's join forces and buy a top Italian club and make it the best in the world!”

According to reports, Inter’s owners, will be more open to selling shares of the Nerazzurri after a difficult financial period for the club, but will also be seeking a premium for their stake in the club.
