The deadlock was finally broken in the 60th minute when Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng, making his first start for the national team.
Jayden Adams doubled South Africa’s lead with a clinical finish, sealing the victory and marking his first goal for Bafana Bafana.
The win propelled South Africa to the top of Group C, sitting ahead of Nigeria in the group standings, with 10 points after five matches.
