Southampton vs Leicester: Ndidi scores beautiful goal as Foxes trounce Aribo's Saints

The Super Eagles Wilfred Ndidi is back among the goals for Leicester, this time with a well-executed strike in the Foxes' 4-1 demolition of Southampton.

Enzo Maresca’s men came out on top in a clash between two recently demoted sides, as Leicester bounced back from the defeat to Hull City to regain the league lead.

Leicester had their first hiccup in their charge to return to the Premier League when they hosted The Tigers at the King Power, but have now returned to winning ways in spectacular fashion in their trip to the St Mary’s.

The game started in the best way possible for the visitors, with veteran striker Jame Vardy scoring inside the first minute of the game. Young Kasey McAtee doubled the Foxes' lead in the 18th minute of the game before the hosts registered their first strike of the encounter, halving Leicester’s advantage with Samuel Edozie’s strike in the 25th minute. 

Wilfred Ndidi restored Maresca's men’s lead just before half-time with a goal that is certain to make it into his career highlights.

 Like an inside forward, the former Genk midfielder received the ball in the left-half space in the box into his path, deleted his marker, and then lodged the ball at the back of the net.

Stephy Mavidi closed off the scoring in the 67th, making it 4-1, as Leicester managed the rest of the game to a comfortable victory.

Wilfred started the game and got a goal, but his compatriot and teammate Kelechi Iheanacho was only a second-half substitute.

He came on in the 81st minute for Vardy, with Leicester winding down after all but securing the result; hence, he had little to do.

On the Saints side, Joe Aribo was also a substitute, brought on in the 78th minute for Che Adams, while British-Nigerian Edozie got the only goal Russell Martin’s men scored.
