The hype surrounding the signing of star point guard Stephen Curry with the Los Angeles Lakers to play with LeBron James is essentially over.

Curry and the Golden State Warriors reached a significant contract extension on Thursday that would keep him under contract through the 2026–2027 campaign.

The $62.6 million deal is merely a one-year extension. Adrian Wojnarowski, an ESPN NBA insider, revealed the information on social media.

Steph Curry not joining LeBron James

Stephen Curry, the best player for the Golden State Warriors, has agreed to a one-year contract extension worth $62.6 million, which will keep him under contract until the 2026–2027 season.

Curry joining the Lakers was never likely, but it didn't stop rumors from spreading widely.

Following their dominating performances for Team USA, rumors circulated that the two elite players would be joining forces for their final years in competition.

Curry would most likely have needed to sign with the Lakers in order to make it happen.

James will probably be retired by the time Curry's deal expires, even though this extension doesn't officially put an end to the prospect of Curry joining the Lakers.

James recently re-signed with the Lakers for a two-year contract, meaning that Curry still has three years left on his current contract.

During the NBA season, James will have Anthony Davis as his co-star, while Curry will have Draymond Green and several depth players at his disposal.

Although they are not anticipated to accomplish much this season, the Lakers and Warriors will undoubtedly be discussed.

With this agreement, Curry's career will probably end with the Warriors, much like James's will probably end with Los Angeles.
