“I got a few, probably,” Lookman stated in a video shared on X.com, formerly known as Twitter by ESPN Africa.
He specifically mentioned Fulham defender Calvin Bassey and Southampton’s midfielder Joe Aribo as his closest pals, referring to them affectionately as part of the “innit boys.”
The term ‘innit boys’ is used to refer to the Anglo-Nigerians who play for the Super Eagles, with Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina also a part of the group.
This revelation comes on the heels of Lookman’s impressive year, which saw him shine both at club level with Atalanta and on the international stage with Nigeria.
His performance in the Europa League final, where he scored a hat-trick to secure Atalanta's first European trophy, significantly contributed to his recognition as Africa's top player.
Lookman's achievements have sparked widespread congratulations from fans and fellow players alike.
Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong and former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar were among those who celebrated his success on social media.
As Lookman continues to build on his career, his friendships within the Super Eagles highlight the brotherhood and bone that exists among the players, which often translates into their performances on the pitch.
With AFCON 2025 on the horizon, fans will be eager to see how this bond will contribute to Nigeria's campaign in the tournament.
