Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen suffers injury blow
Napoli forward Victor Osimhen is set to miss the next week of action after suffering an injury during the international break with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Despite playing both of the Super Eagles’ games against Guinea Bissau during the international break, Osimhen reported to Napoli with an adductor muscle injury that will now see him miss the Serie A fixture against AC Milan.
Osimhen looking to lead Napoli to glory
Osimhen had been in great form for Napoli before the international break, leading the Serie A scoring charts with 21 goals in the league as the Partenopei cruise to an unprecedented Scudetto title.
Osimhen, in his third season with Napoli, is having the best season of his career after scoring 25 goals in 29 games in all competitions in the 2022/23 season, which is five more than he had ever scored in any European campaign before.
Osimhen has been one of the main reasons why Napoli find themselves in pole position for the Scudetto for the first time since 1990, with a Serie A title almost a certainty thanks to a 19-point gap over second-place Lazio.
Napoli to survive Osimhen absence
Osimhen has also been crucial to Napoli reaching the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals for the first time in the club’s history, scoring three goals in the two knockout games against Frankfurt.
Osimhen’s injury will see him miss only the Serie A game against AC Milan, and although he will be a miss against the Rossoneri, Napoli will be happy that his injury will not be serious enough to derail their season.
