Tanzania's Yanga mock bitter rivals Simba with bizarre video after signing their ex-superstar Mkude

Tanzanian club Young Africans also known as Yanga SC, has deepened its rivalry with Simba SC after the signing of Jonas Mkude.

Yanga confirmed signing the former Simba star for an undisclosed fee on Wednesday evening. The club announced this through their official social media account.

The 30-year-old, who made his name at Yanga’s bitter rivals Simba, joins Young Africans who did not disclose the duration of the transfer.

Young Africa made the transfer public with a short statement on their Twitter account and a bizarre video.

“Jonas Mkude is green and yellow,” the club stated in a short statement on their official Twitter account.

However, a bizarre video mocking their rivals Simba was attached to the statement from Yanga.

In the video, an animation of the new signing, Mkude, is seen with a cutlass waiting for an angry Lion which represents Simba.

As the lion tried to attack Mkude, who was sporting the colours of his new club Yanga, the cartoon character made no mistake in dismembering the head of Simba from its neck before raising it amidst cheers.

The defensive midfielder started his career at Simba and came through the ranks at the club’s famed Academy.

He eventually made his senior debut in 2010 before going on to establish himself as a regular in the team.

Mkude is revered for his tenacious style of play and had a successful time at Simba where he won the Tanzanian Premier League and FA Cup titles.

He is also a Tanzania international having been capped 38 times for his country. He left Simba in 2020 after over 10 years at the club.
