Three years after receiving the devastating diagnosis, Van Gaal shared the good news – he is cured. The former Netherlands national team manager spoke for the first time about his ordeal on the talk show "Humberto," the same program where he first announced his diagnosis in 2022, as reported by GSP.

Nicknamed the "Iron Tulip," the manager detailed his recovery process, mentioning that initially, due to unbearable pain, he was extremely skeptical about his chances.

However, the outcome was positive, and after the disease subsided, he stated that he felt increasingly better and wouldn't rule out a return to management.

The cancer doesn't bother me anymore. I had several operations two years ago. It was a terrible time. I had excruciating pain and didn't think I'd make it. But thankfully, everything worked out in the end, and I'm extremely grateful. I still go for regular check-ups. The cancer's remission has been confirmed, but I need to continue these, even though I feel better and better.

"I'm even thinking about coaching again. However, I don't think I'll be able to manage a club team, as that requires much more physical involvement, and my body and age probably won't allow it. But managing a national team... like England or Germany, I wouldn't rule it out. We'll see, but health is the priority." - Louis Van Gaal, on "Humberto."

Van Gaal also revealed that during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he led the Netherlands to the quarterfinals, he was aware of his diagnosis but chose not to inform his players to avoid worrying them and impacting their performance.

"I didn't want to distract them; they needed to focus on something else. They didn't come to Qatar for me, but for the country," Van Gaal explained.

Throughout his impressive career, Van Gaal has won no fewer than 20 major trophies as a manager.

These include a Champions League title with Ajax (1994/1995), two La Liga titles with Barcelona (1997/1998, 1998/1999), a Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich (2009/2010), and an FA Cup triumph with Manchester United (2015/2016).

He also had three spells in charge of the Netherlands national team, leading the "Clockwork Orange" to the World Cup semi-finals in 2014 and the quarterfinals in 2022.

Currently, Van Gaal serves as a special advisor at Ajax Amsterdam, the club where he made his name 30 years ago.
