‘There is no crisis’ - De Gea’s wife plays down separation talk due to long-distance marriage
De Gea and Edurne got together for the first time in December 2010 while recording a Christmas carol to help kids with cancer.
He then moved from Atletico Madrid to Manchester United seven months later and paid £18 million after their first date.
De Gea, a former Manchester United keeper, wed Edurne in July 2023, the same month he officially left Old Trafford.
De Gea’s wife debunks separation rumours
Edurne De Gea has refuted any idea of a crisis while revealing that the couple is "more in love" than ever and giving an explanation for their hectic work schedules.
According to the Sun, she told Spanish news outlet Vanitatis, "We are doing very well, we are very happy and we have not separated and there is no crisis.
“I have already said that because every time we do something, there is a revolution. We are happier and more in love than the first day we met.
"We have been like this for fourteen years. Distance is not a problem, we live our life at a distance because our work requires it. It has happened that his work is outside of Spain and mine is in Madrid."
Since they first met in 2010, the pair have had difficulty maintaining their joint residence. Between 2010 and 2023, the former Old Trafford keeper resided in Greater Manchester, while his spouse primarily stayed in Madrid due to job obligations.
Garcia remained in Spain, visited Manchester frequently, and spent a year in the North West for a brief period in 2018.
Meanwhile, the former Man United goalkeeper signed with Fiorentina this summer, and although he had lived with his wife since his £375,000-per-week contract expired last July, he has since moved to Italy.
