Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is not giving up on the title race just yet despite the defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad.

Arteta’s Gunners have dropped to second on the Premier League table after the 4-1 thrashing from the defending champions last week.

The defeat saw the Gunners lose their position at the top of the table for the first time in over 247 days, with the Cityzens now the new leaders.

The Gunners can return to the top of the league if they can take all three points from their struggling city rivals, Chelsea, who are on a run of five consecutive defeats under interim boss Frank Lampard.

Ahead of that game, former assistant manager at City, Arteta, admitted that the title race is now firmly out of their hands but added that it is far from over.

"Now it is not in our hands," Arteta said according to Skysport.

"What is in our hands is to win our games. That's what we try to do and the rest is down to City.

Kevine De Bruyne and Erland Haaland were unmatched on Wednesday night.

"I know what we're trying to do. We have the nicest part of the season to play with five games to go. This is not over. I would pay a lot of money to be in this position next season, believe me."
