Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has expressed heartfelt gratitude following his first appearance for Villarreal.
The former Arsenal and Atlético Madrid star made a brief appearance off the bench in Villarreal’s pre-season match against Aston Villa, which ended in a 2–0 loss.
Partey, who signed a one-year deal with an option for extension after departing Arsenal in June, will look to build further momentum ahead of Villarreal’s La Liga season opener against Real Oviedo on August 15.
What Partey said
The former Arsenal star shared a simple message on social media, “First minutes in the tank, God is good.”
However, the 32-year-old former Arsenal star was recently granted conditional bail after being formally charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
The charges relate to alleged offences occurring between 2021 and 2022, during his time with Arsenal. Days after his contract with the North London club expired, Partey appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court.
He confirmed his name, date of birth, address, and understanding of his bail conditions, according to the BBC and AP.
