‘Today is war’ - Alex Iwobi says Super Eagles are well prepared against former coach Gernot Rohr
Before the Super Eagles' match against the Republic of Benin, the former Arsenal player expressed his happiness at finally meeting his former coach.
Alex Iwobi was a vital player on the German tactician's team from 2016 to 2021 when he led the Super Eagles.
However, Iwobi has said that the game will be a tough one as they face Rohr’s men at the Felix Houphouet Stadium in Abidjan.

Iwobi said in an Instagram post, “Abidjan, training done, game tomorrow [now today], big, big game.
“We bumped into Gernot Rohr; nice seeing him and his staff; nice seeing he looks well too. But tomorrow [now today] is war.”

Shortly before Nigeria's 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, Rohr's dressing room misconduct led to his dismissal by the Nigeria Football Federation's then-president.
The former head coach then went on to become the head coach of Benin Republic in 2023, as they prepare ahead for the World Cup.
The 70-year-old coach will be looking for a must-win against his previous team to exact revenge for his unannounced departure in 2021 and to help his team's chances of earning a spot in the 2026 World Cup.
