The Portuguese tactician has emphasized the need for KCCA FC to have a well-organized youth structure that will be used as a supply chain for the first team; the target is to ensure both the first and Junior teams have the same methodology.

“The youth systems are the future,” Traguil said in his first official interview with the club.

“You can see in Europe, and even some African sides are adopting the same methodology, and it’s one thing I am passionate about.”

“It was intentional to have Luis Manuel Correira Guerreiro as my assistant because he has much experience with youth football, having worked with top teams.”

Preparing junior team players will be one of the primary assignments, and the former Singida Fountain Gate head coach stresses that the right steps must be followed in player development with both the Junior and senior teams having the same methodology.

“We need to have the right steps in development; we need to prepare the young players well so that whenever they are promoted to the senior team, they’re ready,” Sergio stated.

“The junior and first team coaches must be one; the methodology must be the same.”

With an emphasis on the youth team, which players will make the first team?

“The team will be a mixture of youth, international and national experience; we can’t only play with youth and compete anywhere; you have got to mix it up so that they push each other to perform,” Sergio stressed.

The Portuguese also has plans to have local friendly games but with foreign clubs too, all to be ready for continental games early enough.

“We have plans to have not only local friendlies but also international ones; we need to prepare early for the CAF Confederation Cup.”

“We shall engage the board and discuss because we must reach the group stages,” Traguil added.

KCCA FC is set to start preseason training as soon as the head coach is unveiled to the media.
