Transfer News: Forest rejects €53M bid from Premier League rival for Super Eagles star teammate
After an excellent season both individually and collectively, Anthony Elanga has caught the eye of Newcastle.
The Swedish international has been the subject of transfer speculations in recent weeks and could leave the Eagles this summer.
Elanga's bid rejected
According to the New York Times, they've tabled a bid of around €53 million to Nottingham Forest for the player this summer.
However, Nuno Espírito Santo's side has rejected the offer, unwilling to sell the Swedish player at this time, especially to a Premier League rival competing for European qualification, as reported by Abola.
The same source indicates that the Magpies are now deciding whether to increase their offer or pursue one of their two other targets: Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo or West Ham's Mohammed Kudus.
Developed at Manchester United, Elanga moved to Forest in 2023 for approximately €17.5 million.
In the 2024/25 season, he scored 6 goals and provided 12 assists in 43 appearances, helping his team qualify for next season's UEFA Conference League.
