UEFA hits Chelsea, Barcelona, and Villa with fines after breaching Financial Fair Play regulations

Chelsea and Aston Villa could face further sanctions for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.

These fines serve as a warning of even greater penalties to come if they are found breaching the rules.

According to The Times, via Sportal, Chelsea has received a suspended fine of €60 million, while Villa faces an additional €15 million penalty.

Chelsea will be under UEFA scrutiny for the next four years and subject to further restrictions on registering new players in European competitions. The London club has agreed to change its financial practices; failure to comply could lead to exclusion from UEFA tournaments.

Villa has received a lighter penalty as this is their first offence, but they will also be monitored.

English clubs aren't the only ones facing repercussions. Barcelona will have to pay €15 million, Lyon €12.5 million, and Roma €3 million.

All of these clubs have been found in breach of the rules and have received warnings of much harsher penalties to come.
