Uganda Cup Round of 16 Draw: Tricky Test for SC Villa as Vipers Get ‘Easy Meat’
The draw for the Round of 16 of the 2025/26 Uganda Cup has set the stage for several compelling matchups, including a high-profile, all-Premier League encounter between SC Villa and Maroons.
The draw, conducted on the morning of Thursday, March 5, 2026, at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala, pitted the nine-time champions SC Villa against a formidable Maroons side in one of two all-top-flight ties.
In the other all-Premier League fixture, NEC will host the winner of the disputed Round of 32 match between Police and Lugazi. Despite Lugazi's 2-0 victory, the result is currently under review following a petition.
Vipers Avoid Top-Tier Opposition
Defending champions Vipers SC received a favourable draw, as they are set to welcome FUFA Big League side Iganga United to St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende. Meanwhile, former winners KCCA will face another second-tier opponent, Onduparaka.
Current league leaders Kitara FC will look to leverage their home advantage when they host Bunyaruguru United at their Butema fortress. Elsewhere, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) will travel to Hamz Stadium to take on North-East regional side Tapoh.
The draw also produced a clash between two lower-division regional teams, with Happy Boyz Kagaba scheduled to play against Six O’clock.
The ultimate prize for the winner of the Uganda Cup is a coveted spot in the CAF Confederation Cup, representing Uganda on the continental stage.
