‘Under fire’ Real Madrid star SACKS his lawyer amid s*x video scandal that could have him jailed for 4 years
Raúl Asencio is currently embroiled in a legal controversy that could see him imprisoned for up to four years.
The 22-year-old Real Madrid defender is accused of sharing a sexually explicit video involving a 16-year-old girl, recorded without her consent by former youth teammates Ferran Ruiz, Andrés García, and Juan Rodríguez in June 2023.
The video allegedly depicts the minor and another woman, aged 18 at the time, engaging in sexual activity.
The footage was reportedly distributed via WhatsApp, leading to criminal charges under Spain's Article 197 of the Criminal Code, which addresses the distribution of explicit material involving minors.
If convicted, Asencio could face a prison sentence ranging from two-and-a-half to four years, depending on his level of involvement in the distribution.
Sex video scandal: Asencio changes his lawyer amidst ongoing investigation
According to Daily Mail, Asencio has dismissed his previous legal counsel, Juango Ospina, and appointed Alfonso Morales Camprubí, a seasoned criminal lawyer affiliated with Real Madrid's in-house legal team.
Morales Camprubí previously represented the club in a case involving racial abuse directed at Vinícius Júnior during a La Liga match against Valencia in May 2023.
Asencio has consistently denied any participation in the recording or distribution of the video.
The Spanish centre-back asserts that he was not present during the incident and that upon learning of the video's existence, he urged his teammates to delete it.

Despite these claims, a judge at the Gran Canaria High Court has decided to proceed with the investigation, citing sufficient evidence to support allegations of violation of privacy and distribution of explicit material without consent.
The case has garnered significant public attention, with the mother of the 16-year-old girl filing a complaint that led to the arrests of Asencio and his former teammates in September 2023.
