Vinicius's introduction in the second-half destabilised Getafe's previously back line and led to sendings-off, creating space for Kylian Mbappe to exploit and help Real Madrid win 1-0.

The LaLiga contest at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez looked destined for a stalemate until the final quarter-hour. Real’s French forward struck in the 80th minute to hand Xabi Alonso’s side all three points, a victory that moved Madrid back to the top of the table.

Key Match Details

Real Madrid had the better of the openings but struggled to fashion a clear chance in a cagey first half that finished goalless. Franco Mastantuono was bright early for the visitors and Mbappé tested David Soria with a low shot in the opening exchanges, but Getafe’s compact shape kept Madrid at bay through 45 minutes.

The second half saw Xabi Alonso freshen his side; Vinícius Júnior came on and his direct running began to stretch Getafe’s defenders.

Vinicius’s activity saw Getafe’s starting right wing-back Kiko Femenia recieve a yellow. To prevent a red card, Jose Bordalas replaced him with Alan Nyom, who received a straight red in the 77th minute for a flagrant challenge on Vinicius, leaving Getafe down to ten men.

Seconds later Real made the numerical advantage count: Arda Güler, introduced from the bench, picked out Mbappé, who finished clinically in the 80th minute to make it 1–0.

Getafe briefly rallied but then surrendered a second player to a dismissal when Álex Sancris received his second yellow and was sent off in the 84th minute for a harsh challenge on Vinícius, reducing the hosts to nine men.

Despite the numerical advantage, Madrid had to defend deep late on; Thibaut Courtois provided one nervy intervention in stoppage time to deny a last-gasp Getafe chance and ensure the three points stayed with the visitors.
