'We knew we were right' - UEFA chief Ceferin on Manchester City’s FFP charge

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin's unwavering stance on the matter, despite a reversal by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), speaks volumes about the complexity and intensity of such disputes in the sport.

In 2020, UEFA penalized Manchester City for FFP breaches, imposing a hefty fine and a two-year ban from European competitions. This decision was based on findings of falsely inflated sponsorship revenues.

Ceferin, with his extensive legal background, stood firm on UEFA's decision, as reported by Sky Sports, stating, "We know we were right. We wouldn't decide if we didn't think we were right."

Manchester City contested UEFA's ruling, leading to CAS overturning the ban and reducing the fine. However, the saga didn't end there. 

The Premier League later charged City with numerous breaches of financial regulations, a case that is still pending. 

Meanwhile, City's manager, Pep Guardiola, calls for patience, emphasizing the uniqueness of their situation compared to other clubs like Everton and Nottingham Forest, who faced similar accusations. 

Ceferin, understanding fans' frustrations, refrained from commenting on the ongoing Premier League proceedings.
