‘We respect Nigeria, but not too much’ - Zimbabwe star speaks ahead of Super Eagles clash

A decisive 2-0 win against Rwanda last Friday gave new head coach Eric Chelle his first win and a boost in morale for their next game against Zimbabwe

The Super Eagles are aiming to secure consecutive victories and ascend the Group C standings, as the recent result has revitalised their once-struggling qualification campaign.

Rinomhota has claimed that Zimbabwe are not in Uyo just to make up the numbers but to also cause an upset.

Speaking on Zimbabwe Football Association on X, he said, “We’re optimistic. We got a result against Nigeria last time, even though it was technically a home game in Rwanda.

“That was my first game – it was a big test, and the team did well to draw. This time, we want to go a step further. 

“We respect Nigeria, but not too much. We’ll try to impose ourselves. We’ve come here to get a result and keep pushing towards our goal.”

Rinomhota, who debuted in November 2023, is confident that his team can defeat Nigeria this time.

Zimbabwe faces a daunting task, currently holding the lowest position in the group with just three points from five games.
