What happened to Sha'Carri Richardson before she ran fastest time in the world this year?
The world's fastest woman, Sha'Carri Richardson had an interesting moment with her shoe before racing to gold at the USATF Olympic Trials.
As reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria, the American speedster is set for the Olympics after another world-leading time at the trials.
Sha’Carri Richardson stumbles to win
According to a report from Teen Vogue, just 24 hours before her qualifying race, Richardson had ‘a bit of a hiccup’ during the 100-meter dash, tripping a bit after she launched out of her starting position.
The shocking moment had spectators holding their breath, but this girl's got moves – and she wasn't about to let a pesky shoelace trip up ruin her shot at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Despite the near-disaster, Richardson expertly recovered and powered forward, crossing the finish line in first place with a time of 10.88 seconds.
And if that wasn't enough to prove her mettle, the American sprinting sensation then went on to obliterate the competition in the final, clocking a blistering world-leading time of 10.71 seconds to secure her spot on the plane to Paris.
This triumphant return to the Olympic stage comes three years after Richardson was disqualified from the 2021 Tokyo Games following a positive test for marijuana, a banned substance for Olympians.
At just 21 years old, she was forced to watch from the sidelines as her dreams of gold were snatched away.
