Your injury is fake! Ghana legend slams Victor Osimhen after Super Eagles draw
Former Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan has openly questioned the Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen's recent injury, suggesting it was a calculated move to benefit his new club, Galatasaray.
Gyan's accusation came after Osimhen was forced to leave the pitch during the first half of Nigeria's crucial 1-0 victory against Rwanda last Saturday.
The injury was considered serious enough to rule him out of the subsequent World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
Asamoah Gyan claims Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen faked injury
However, Ghana’s all-time leading goalscorer Gyan believes the former Napoli striker was faking the injury.
In a recent interview, Gyan was quoted by Habersarikirmizi stating that it's a trick.
"I know these tricks. Someone said to Osimhen, 'Look, we spent a lot of money on you. The Champions League is coming up.
"We don’t like you going to Africa, but go there and play a bit, then get injured and lie on the ground and act like it’s serious. The next day you’ll be in Türkiye."
Osimhen, who recently completed a record-breaking transfer to the Turkish giants, immediately returned to Turkey for further medical assessment.
Galatasaray's official statement later confirmed that Osimhen had sustained a moderate sprain to his ankle ligaments and that treatment had already begun to get him back on the field as soon as possible.
The 26-year-old was absent from Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Bafana Bafana on Tuesday, a result that has now put the Super Eagles' qualification for the 2026 World Cup in serious doubt.
