Her experience and leadership will come in handy for the predominantly young side.

Luxemburg-based Jannon Otto will also return to the team after averaging 18.3 points, 10 .3 rebounds and 2.8 assists in the qualifiers.

The College players, led by Jane Asinde, Jamila Nansikombi and Melissa Akullu, will also make the long trip to fight for slots on the final roster to Kigali.

The team will start non-residential training on Sunday, July 2, with sessions held at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium and Africa Bible University in Lubowa.

“We are excited to be back to the big stage, and this is a big deal for our basketball as a nation. We are very positive that the ladies will make the country proud come July 28 when the games tip-off,” FUBA President Nasser Sserunjogi noted.

The final selected team will then head to Kigali, Rwanda, for a residential camp starting on July 15, 2023.

The Gazelles will be making their third appearance at the continental showpiece after debuting in 1997 and at the 2015 edition.

The competition will run from July 28 to August 6 at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.
