Following the victory, Tukamuhebwa pushed through to the Round of 32 from the preliminary stage, to keep Uganda's dreams of having a boxer at the Paris Olympics alive.

Uganda Bombers captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa exerted absolute dominion as he pounced on Guatemalan native Garcia Edgar in the World Olympics qualifiers in Italy.

Garcia Edgar needed the referee's intervention in the third round as Tukamuhebwa had proved too strong, brawny and indestructible in the Tuesday fight.

Following the victory, Tukamuhebwa pushed through to the Round of 32 from the preliminary stage, to keep Uganda's dreams of having a boxer at the Paris Olympics alive.

It should be recalled that four boxers were sent in world qualifiers in Italy, but two - Yusuf Nkobeza and Shafic Mawanda have already exited.

Nkobeza lost by a 5-0 unanimous decision against Romanian boxer Paul Andrei Aradoaei on Monday.

Meanwhile, it was a heartbreak for Mawanda, who lost without throwing a punch, having been disqualified for arriving late for the bout against Singapore's Teo Wei Xuan.
