It has been revealed that the Zebra Boxing Club boxer suffered an accident, but it's unclear whether it was instant or succumbed from injuries in hospital.

Ugandan boxer Bala Geko has been confirmed dead after being found in Mulago city mortuary, having gone missing for days.

It has been revealed that the Zebra Boxing Club boxer suffered an accident, but it's unclear whether it was instant or succumbed from injuries in hospital.

"We regret to inform you about the death of Bala Geko," Zebra Boxing Club Bwaise said in a statement.

"We belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return. Let's put the entire family into our Prayers."

Uganda Boxing Federation, Moses Muhangi has also confirmed the developments through his social media handles.

"We regret to inform you about the death of Bala Geko, 19 years old," Muhangi wrote.

Bala Geko has previously featured in the Uganda Boxing Champions League, and one of his most significant bouts had him emerge victorious over David Asaba in a 4-1 split decision in April 2022.

In September 2022, he repeated the feat against Asaba, this time in a 5-0 unanimous decision.

Then, featuring in the Youth Bantam Weight (54kgs), he was later in December beaten by Ibrahim Kemis in a 4-1 split.
