The Algerian coach sparked outrage in a televised interview, where he accused Morocco’s Football Federation (FRMF) of “manipulating” African football.

Despite being in the middle of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Tanzania Taifa Stars head coach Adel Amrouche has been banned by continental football governing body, CAF.

Amrouche has been laid off for eight matches and has subsequently withdrawn from AFCON.

The Algerian coach sparked outrage in a televised interview, where he accused Morocco’s Football Federation (FRMF) of “manipulating” African football.

“Currently, the FRMF is a confirmed power in the African football world; in the last match against Morocco, they forced us to play in the evening when we wanted to play in the early afternoon,” Amrouche claimed in a televised statement to an Algerian TV channel.

Amrouche further alleged that Morocco “manages and determines everything in African football," statements that have landed him in hot soup.

The controversial remarks came a few days ahead of Tanzania's game against Morocco, which the latter comfortably won 3-0.

Meanwhile, the Tanzanian Football Federation has appointed Amrouche's assistant, Hemed Morocco, as the interim head coach to oversee the rest of the AFCON.

In their second match of the tournament, the Taifa Stars will tussle it out with Zambia, who drew one-all with DR Congo earlier this week.
