Manchester United are reportedly lining up a shock replacement for Andre Onana after his troubled start to life at Old Trafford

Andre Onana’s inconsistent start to life at Manchester United could have dire consequences for the Cameroonian goalkeeper, as the Red Devils reportedly set out to find a replacement for him just months after his arrival.

Manchester United consider replacing Onana

Onana made the decision to move to England with former boss Erik Ten Hag in charge of the Red Devils but he has failed to impress in his first few matches in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

Following the 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich in the first match of the UCL, Onana spoke about his struggles and noted that he had cost Manchester United the game and needed to improve for the team.

However, the former Ajax and Inter man may not get the chance to prove his mettle at Manchester United, as the Red Devils have reportedly entered the market for a new goalkeeper to replace the faltering Onana.

According to reports from Spanish publication Fichajes, Manchester United will try to sign Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak at the earliest opportunity if Onana’s struggles continue.

The Slovakian goalkeeper is widely regarded as one of the best in world football and would prove a difficult signing since he still has four and a half more years left on his current contract with the LaLiga side, but Manchester United would reportedly be willing to risk a move for him.

Reports suggest that Oblak would be open to a move to Manchester United, but his buyout clause, which stands at just over €100 million, could be the biggest stumbling block for a proposed move.

The move could make Oblak the most expensive goalkeeper in football history if Atletico insist on his release clause, but he would represent a stark contrast to Onana as he is not as dependable with the ball at his feet.
