Spanish-born Nigerian forward Samuel Omorodion scored 18 goals in 38 games in the Segunda Federacion last season before making history against Atletico Madrid.

Atletico have moved swiftly to prise the youngster away from Granada after an impressive start to the season. 

Omorodion’s form for Granada

The 19-year-old made his LALIGA debut against Atletico at the magnificent Wanda Metropolitano. 

He opened his account for the season with a sensational strike against Diego Simeone’s men.

Samu’s goal turned out to be just a consolation as Atleti came from behind to thrash the visitors 3-1. 

However, Omorodion’s goal saw him enter the history books as he became the third youngster player to score for Granada in LALIGA history. 

The youngster’s performance and remarkable goal that night seem to have impressed the powers that be at the capital club who have now decided to sign the forward.

According to a report by the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Omorodion could be on his way to Atleti. 

The former LALIGA winners have decided to activate Samu’s release clause at Granada and look set to seal the transfer this summer.

“Atlético Madrid complete Samu Omorodion deal by triggering release clause,” Romano posted on his official X.com page on Monday afternoon.

The club has now confirmed the transfer, with Omorodion putting pen to paper on a five-year contract that will see him stay at Atleti until the summer of 2028. 

"Before signing his contract with our entity, @samuomorodion passed the pertinent medical examination of the Sports Medicine Unit of @Vithas I Invictum," the club posted in a statement on X.com.
