Morata made up for the error after the half-time, albeit inadvertently, as the ball bounced off him in the Norway box to find an unmarked Gavi, who fired home to win the game for La Roja.

The goal was eventually given, but goalscorer Gavi was still sceptical about the decision, confessing after the match that he was unsure about Morata being in an offside position.
Following the match against Norway, Gavi told Marca, “My goal came from Morata’s action in the box, I don’t know if he was offside. In the end, we got the goal, and I’m happy about it.”
Spain were able to overcome the threat of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who was restricted to only two shots throughout the 90 minutes against the former World Champions.
The loss to Spain puts Norway’s chances of reaching the 2024 Euros in the balance, as the Norwegians now need to book a place in next year’s tournament through the UEFA Nations League path.
