Moises Caicedo has reportedly turned down Liverpool's proposal, after the Reds reached an agreement with Brighton. He is said to prefer a move to Stamford Bridge.

Colombia international Moises Caicedo has reportedly turned down the proposal from Liverpool, as he only wants to join Chelsea

The Brighton defensive-midfielder has been the subject of several transfer links to a number of clubs, as well as bids, but London giants Chelsea were closest for most of the transfer saga. 

Despite the protracted negotiations between Chelsea and the West Londoners, Liverpool were the team to reach an agreement with Brighton, but, according to recent reports, the player prefers to play for Pochettino's side.

Liverpool reach agreement for Caicedo 

As Pulse Sports reported in the early hours of today, Liverpool seemingly won the race for the Colombian international and were set to pay a British record transfer fee of £110 million. 

Klopp's side are in dire need of a player of Caicedo's profile following the exit of Fabinho to the Saudi Professional League and have been in a protracted negotiation of their own with Southampton for Romeo Lavia, with the Saints refusing to budge on their valuation for the Manchester City academy graduate.

In a development that shocked many, the Reds, with the season's curtain raiser nigh upon us, reached Brighton's ask and were set to hijack Chelsea's summer target. 

Caicedo says no to Liverpool 

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the former Independiente del Valle midfielder has declined to join Liverpool.

The report claims that Caicedo already has an agreement in personal terms in place with Chelsea since May and has informed the Merseysiders he wants to keep to his word. 

The Blues are now expected to return to the negotiation table with Brighton so as to complete a deal, ending their summer-long pursuit.
