Mamelodi Sundowns legend Dennis Masinde Onyango has expressed his satisfaction with how well the Ugandan goalkeeping duo of Salim Jamal and Ismail Watenga are fairing in South Africa.

Watenga played just 26 times in the Premier Soccer League across three previous seasons with Chippa United and Marumo Gallants FC.

"It's great to see both of them enjoy first-team football in the PSL, which was a little bit difficult when they first came in," Onyango told Pulse Sports in an interview.

"The first season for Jamal, he did well and was nominated among the goalkeepers of the season; it was incredible."

"Watenga struggled a little bit with game time, but right now with the Golden Arrows, he's doing well, so that's good, and it shows that when you keep fighting, you always get the rewards."

"They've done very well; they just have to maintain it; it very difficult to maintain consistently, but with the quality that they have, and more consistency, it will be greater for them as well."

Meanwhile, Jamal and Watenga continue to battle for the number one spot at the Uganda Cranes, with each starting a game apiece at the recent World Cup qualifiers against Guinea and Somalia, respectively.
